Milder temperatures and rainfall over recent weeks has seen a considerable drop in required production levels, compared to just over a month ago, at all 8 Shire water supplies.
Quirindi’s supply, the Borambil bore field, improved significantly during March. (see graph)
The dry weather experienced in January and February caused elevated evaporation from Quipolly Dam which saw the capacity level drop to 85.7%. Over the last month there has been a slight increase in level due to rainfall over the dam. Unfortunately, there was no flow in Quipolly Creek.
Work continues on the upgrade to the Caroona water supply. Drilling work has been completed on the new bore hole.
Level P (Permanent) water conservation measures are currently in force at all 8 of the Shire’s water supplies. Level P means consumers are requested to minimise watering during the heat of the day, high pressure houses only should be used to wash down hard/paved surfaces and pool covers should be used to reduce evaporation. Be water conscious and smart at all times.
